Mental Health First Aid

Azania’s Mental Health First Aid Training is a program designed to provide organizations with the necessary skills to identify, understand, and effectively respond to indications of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. By fostering comprehension and offering a comprehensive action plan, the initiative empowers individuals to confidently and responsibly recognize and address mental health challenges with the people they serve. This training enables organizations to extend crucial support to individuals navigating mental health crises with empathy and understanding, bridging the gap between awareness and action.

Most people have the basic knowledge of responding to heart attack, where techniques like CPR and calling 9-1-1 are nearly innate responses to such a crisis.

There is a notable lack of awareness when it comes to addressing situations like panic attacks or identifying signs of alcoholism in friends or colleagues.  Our training aims to eliminate apprehension and uncertainty by equipping individuals with the proficiency to initiate discussions about mental health and substance use.

The ultimate goal is to empower a broader population to engage in timely and appropriate interventions. Our trainees are vital connectors between those facing mental health or substance use challenges and the necessary support systems.
