Azania Counseling

Azania Counseling combines extensive cross-cultural experience and skills in trauma therapy with a passionate desire to see people find healing and freedom from unresolved, complex trauma.  The modalities which inform our therapeutic practices are rooted in a community approach; working with family systems, addressing systemic and communal trauma, as well as individual trauma. We adapt all of our approaches to be culturally appropriate in order to connect with people on a deep relational level and guide them through their healing journey.

Individuals and Groups

Counseling sessions are for individuals or groups looking for healing, resiliency, and hope after traumatic or difficult experiences. Sessions consist of evidence-based EMDR therapy, combined with various therapeutic, trauma-informed approaches tailored to each unique client. A healing, listening space is created through relationship and connection, so the brokenness and suffering can be transcended.

About EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a researched and proven therapeutic technique that is used to treat symptoms of traumatic, painful, and difficult experiences. It can be done with individuals during a regular counseling session, or during a two-day EMDR intensive experience. For groups, it can be used after a shared crisis or disaster, ongoing stressful situations, or for people who have experienced similar related trauma.
